Welcome

I was inspired after reading a book by Mike King who became a paraplegic after a motorcycle accident. He wheeled 5600 miles from Alaska to Washington D.C. in 120 days. He sent me his book shortly after I was injured and when I read it, I thought maybe someday I’ll be able to do something to inspire others just as he did.

This is it. I'm not wheeling 5600 miles, but this site is my attempt to show other people who may be dealing with a devastating injury, disease or any other life-altering situation that life goes on and you can still get out there and live a good life. There are many of us living normal lives everyday. If you happen to be in a situation that has put physical limitations on you, browse this site and see if my experiences and challenges can help you. If you are someone who is living with a disability and have discovered unique ways to accomplish tasks, go to the blog and share it with us.

I am also utilizing this site as a conduit to contact those who were involved, directly or indirectly, in supporting my family during and after my accident. It has been a long time coming, after 21 years I am just now learning about some of the events surrounding my accident. I am looking for more information about the wonderful things you did. If it wasn’t for those of you who went above and beyond, those first months and years would have been so much harder. If you are someone who helped organize, raise money or was involved in any way, or know someone who was, please contact me through this site or email me at me@jerryboyko.com.

I want to thank everyone who came to the hospital to support me and my family when I had my accident. I heard the number of people who came was staggering. The waiting rooms, hallways, elevators and phone systems were overrun. It was a mad house! It was so chaotic the hospital had to hire more security. Way to go!! It meant a lot knowing so many of you came. I don't know who all was there or what you did to support us, but I want to hear from you. Send me a message from the contact page or email me at me@jerryboyko.com.

Most importantly, I want to thank my family; I love you all. Mom, I love you. Thank you for taking care of me after my accident and putting up with my B.S. You’re the most important person in my life. Diana, Richard & Brenda; thanks for being there when I need you...I know I can always count on you guys. Mike, thanks for your patience...I don't know how you do it. Cheri, your input has been invaluable. Thanks for being my photographer & editor and keeping me from doing a hatchet job on this site.
